Car is out of warranty, dealer or independent garage for service?

My car finally hit the end of its warranty period and I'm trying to decide where to take it for the upcoming annual service. The dealer has done everything so far, but the costs are always high and I feel like they push extras I don't really need. I'm not sure if an independent can be trusted with a car that's still relatively new. I've been reading about professional vehicle maintenance choices and it seems like there are good arguments for both sides. Dealers have brand specific training, but independents often understand local driving conditions better and have more flexible pricing. For those who have made the switch here in Abu Dhabi, what was your experience? Did you find a good independent that you trust, or did you go back to the dealer?

When a car is out of warranty, going with an independent garage often feels more flexible and easier on the budget compared to a dealer. It really depends on trust and how comfortable you are with the work being done. I’ve had similar thoughts while dealing with other repairs, like checking asbestos garage roof removal cost through AIO Home Services before getting any work started, just to avoid surprises later. In the end, having a clear idea of pricing and reliability makes the decision a lot less stressful.
