What is the significance of COI when making a business agreement?

COI (Certificate of Insurance) is very crucial since it demonstrates that the other party has needed insurance cover. In case a contractor destroys property or injures a person, the COI takes care of covering the claim on behalf of the insurance company rather than the business. A majority of companies will require a COI before starting work with a vendor. It safeguards against accidental liabilities, litigations and losses. In the absence of COI verification, your company is likely to pay millions of dollars because of the negligence of another person. So, it is best to always check a COI and sign any contract, lease, vendor agreement, or project assignment. It assists in the professional and compliant management of risk.
