Black Ops SMG Meta Loadouts, Full Stats Comparative Analysis (Post-Patch)
Quote from coupleslv on January 16, 2026, 2:18 pmYour favorite submachine weapon might feel different after you've played bo7 bot lobbies in the past. You are not imagining it. Yesterday's patch reworked the weapon settings, targeting specifically how SMGs will compete with Assault Rifles.
Previously, SMGs were bullied even when they were close to the ARs. Now? The gap between the two teams has closed. The meta has changed with the addition of new stats. We crunched the data, from the raw Time to Kill to recoil patterns.
The Speed Demons: Time to Kill
When you face an enemy in person, milliseconds can make a difference. When your top priority is to remove opponents as fast and as efficiently as you can, you will have two clear-cut winners.
The Kings of CQC Razer: 9mm & MP25
Both weapons offer a TTK effective range of 240ms. Right now, this is what you should be using. If you're an aggressive player who likes to get right in your opponent’s face, then these are your go-to moves.
mmoset Trap Weapon : RK9
You might consider the RK9 SMG to be a weapon with potential. Be careful.
The Problem: Without a headshot, it is not possible to get a one-shot kill.
The Reality: You will lose TTK if you miss your headshot. This is because you are forced to wait the burst delay before firing again.
TTK is reduced to absurd 170ms when you mix only one headshot.
Pro Tip. In general, avoid fishing for headshots while using SMGs. As opposed to previous games, the multiplier rarely is high enough for you to reduce your number of shots required to kill until 3 or 4 headshots are made in a single row. Consistency is achieved by aiming at the center of mass.
Range & Accuracy : Extending the Reach
Power is only useful if the target can be hit. It is here that the class begins to separate into bullet hoses or precision tools.
Draic Laser Beam
Draic is for you if recoil is your enemy. It has the best velocity of the bullets (meaning, it can hitcan at 25-30 meters) as well as the most consistent patterns of recoil. It kicks right up and left, but is smooth.
Why use the SMG? It is the best-user-friendly SMG. It bridges between an SMG & an AR better than anyone else.
The Range King: carbon 57
On paper this gun has the largest maximum damage. But there is a snag.
The S Curve: This is the pattern of recoil that goes left, then snaps to right in a S shape. This can cause you to lose your aim even after the recent patch.
Feeling & Handling: The Feeling Factor
Black Ops 7 is a game that makes interesting tradeoffs with SMGs.
The Speedster, MPC25
This gun is the best in terms of handling. It has excellent movement speed and a quick aim-down sight (ADS).
The Trade-off is that it kicks like one. The MPC25 doesn't stop climbing up vertically like some CODs. Holding the trigger will lead you to shooting upwards. You must fight the gun to make sure it works.
The Heavyweight, Carbon 57
A large magazine causes the Carbon to feel slow. Its handling statistics are dangerously close with those of Assault Rifles. If you use snap-aiming to aim, you may find this weapon too slow.
Quick Answers on the Grind
Q: What SMG is suitable for a novice?
Draic45. Its high velocity bullets and predictable recoil makes it the most generous weapon of its kind. Gunfights won't end because of a kick that you can't manage.
Q: Are RK9 SMGs still viable?
Only if your skill level is high. You need to get at least a single headshot for it to be considered competitive. If you use only body shots you will lose out to nearly every SMG.
Q: Was the SMG fix actually implemented in this update?
A: Mostly, yes. ARs were too often winning close-range matches before the update. SMGs have an edge up close (0-15m), and ARs still rule the medium-to-long-range. The balance now feels healthier.
Which One Is For You?
There is no single best weapon, as it all depends upon how you choose to play the game map. You should consider the following:
1. If you want to be an aggressive rusher, choose either the MPC25 (or Razer) 9mm. You can kill in 240ms. You will need to learn how to deal with the MPCs vertical recoil as well as the Razer's bounce.
2. Draic45: For the Tacticalflex Player. The Draic is accurate, has high velocity and lets you take on enemies at ranges other SMGs can't.
3. The RK9 is for players who are willing to take on high risk and reward: It has the fastest theoretical kill-time (170ms), although it penalizes missed shots severely.
SMG is now able to stand on its very own. The Draic is a good choice if you are looking for consistency. Razer is a great option if your goal it to melt faces. Best of luck.
